There are many reasons to run in a 5k; charities, self goal, enjoyment of running. A 5k is a 3.1 mile race. Many of us beginners (out of shape people) sometimes struggle with this race, but the biggest struggle is in that second middle mile. You can sometimes get through the first mile out of adrenaline and keeping up with the pack. The last mile is somewhat easy because of the final push and the perseverance of completing the race. The middle mile, not so easy. Here, Jason Saltmarsh writes in his blog some pointers to get you through that dreaded middle mile and make the race a bit more enjoyable.
- The people have spoken, they say that mile two is the hardest mile in a 5k race.
- The first mile is full of hope and optimism.
- The third mile is the last push, and with it comes glory and accomplishment.
Key Takeaways:
"You can't race well until you've learned to suffer well."
