Maria Mendoza gave birth to a baby with the Zika virus. At first, they thought the baby was okay, but before she was able to leave the hospital they found calcifications in her brain. These calcifications are from when she contracted Zika. THis is one of the first babies to be born in the US with Zika. Zika can cause cognitive and physical disabilities, but much is still unknown about the disease.
