There are many reasons to run in a 5k; charities, self goal, enjoyment of running. A 5k is a 3.1 mile race. Many of us beginners (out of shape people) sometimes struggle with this race, but the biggest struggle is in that second middle mile. You can sometimes get through the first mile out of adrenaline and keeping up with the pack. The last mile is somewhat easy because of the final push and the perseverance of completing the race.
